John Dunnaback Local Owner
My son, Rory, and I started the 1st Franchise of NerdsToGo in the West Coast back in 2017 seeing the need to provide the Portland community with a higher level of IT services. Over this period, we have handled 6.000 customers. It has been an honor for us to bring such an critical level of support to businesses and residents alike.
Over the years my work has been involved with Finance on an international level having lived in London, The Netherlands, Switzerland and Mexico City traveling throughout the continents. Today I support the NerdsToGo team with the finance and administration activities as well as scheduling as they work hard to support each client. This is a 24/7 world.
My passion in life is travel and adventure with my family as well as being a Detroit sports addict where I was born and raised. I also love playing tennis and golf and going to the theater. I’m well beyond retirement but still enjoy this business helping people every day.

Rory Dunnaback Local OwnerHello Portland, Oregon! My name is Rory Dunnaback and I’m the Owner and Operator of NerdsToGo here in Portland. I started this business with my father, John, as we both saw the need for onsite residential and small business technology support, and had the desire to own our own business. I’m a South Portland resident myself and when I’m not at NerdsToGo, I spend time volunteering in the community to improve the quality of life for those less fortunate, and improving public services so they’re more efficient and economical. NerdsToGo is a great solution for everyone in the South Portland area that needs technology service, and I’m happy to bring our service and support to Portland businesses and residents!

Aaron Shannon Senior IT Technician
Aaron brings 20 years of hands-on IT experience to every project. His career began at HP, where he worked across a range of technical roles before advancing to Network Engineer. He later moved into retail tech support as a Microsoft Expert and Geek Squad agent at Best Buy. Today, as a Senior IT Technician, he manages network and PC health for a range of clients — bringing two decades of troubleshooting, diagnostics, and hands-on know-how to every job.
Off the clock, Aaron's own setup reflects that same depth: every PC he owns, including his gaming rig, is custom-built by his own hands, while his mobile, laptop, and home automation devices run entirely within the Apple ecosystem. He especially enjoys working from the root up — finding ways to automate and streamline processes, a passion he puts to use in his own home automation projects.

Vlad Networking Technician
Vlad got his start doing IT work informally for family and friends before turning it into a career. He holds a degree in Cybersecurity, Networking, and Security Operations, along with his CompTIA A+ certification (Network+ is next on his list). At NerdsToGo, he handles everything from hands-on hardware support to building and managing client networks, with a focus on Unifi and Omada systems and WatchGuard firewalls. He also manages cloud and SaaS administration through Microsoft Entra, and handles DNS security work such as DMARC and SPF configuration to protect against email spoofing.
Outside of work, Vlad runs an extensive home lab and enterprise-grade network setup — including his own firewall, servers, network monitoring tools, and a remote VPS with a hardened, secure VPN setup. He also enjoys software development in his spare time. His favorite part of the job is going on-site and working directly with clients — there's nothing more satisfying than walking into a frustrating tech problem and walking out with it solved.

Trevor IT Technician
Trevor has been taking technology apart to understand how it works since he was 11, when a computer case first became the most interesting problem in the room. That early curiosity grew into a genuine and lasting passion for the field in all its forms. Today he works as an IT technician, where he diagnoses hardware, repairs and restores machines, and solves the kind of technical problems that reward patience and precision.
Outside of work, Trevor is drawn to robotics and circuitry, where he enjoys building things from the component level up and understanding exactly how each piece fits together. He also channels that same technical focus into game design, where engineering meets storytelling and systems thinking. Whether he's building the logic behind a game, tracing a fault across a circuit board, or bringing a robotics project to life, he approaches each one with the same curiosity and craftsmanship that started with a single screwdriver years ago. For him, technology has always been more than a job — it's a lifelong interest that continues to grow the deeper he explores it.
